Tooth plays a vital role in our daily life. It helps us in chewing, speaking, and maintaining our physical appearance. To keep our teeth healthy and functional is quite important. Functional tooth is basically a tooth which can perform its functions normally. It helps us to lead a healthy life. Good oral hygiene is essential for proper functioning of teeth. Brushing twice a day, flossing, and regular treatment of mouth and teeth helps to prevent decay, cavities, and gum diseases. Eating healthy is also essential for functioning of teeth. Eating fiber-rich food, like vegetables, fruits, and whole grain bread help to reduce plaque which is a build up of bacteria in the mouth. Reducing sugar intake is also important as sugar affects the teeth. A regular visit to the dentist helps to identify any underlying issues with the teeth and gums, such as receding gums or tooth decay. Early detection leads to effective treatment and prevents further damage. Dentist can also perform various treatments to improve the function of teeth such as fillings, crowns, bridges, extractions, and implants. Fillings are applied when there is damage to the decay. Crowns and bridges are used to repair damaged teeth and replace missing teeth. Extractions are done when a tooth has to be removed due to an infection or other reasons. Dental implants are used for replacing missing teeth and they provide an effective way of restoring proper functioning of teeth. Ensuring proper dental care and hygiene helps in maintaining a healthy and functional tooth. Regular visits to the dentist and taking advice from the dentist are important for preserving proper functioning of teeth.
