Biography:
Dr. Marta Ciechonska is CEO and Co-Founder of Salient Bio, a London-based ISO 17025-accredited diagnostics laboratory specialising in microbiome health and precision diagnostics. She holds a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from Dalhousie University, Canada, and completed postdoctoral research at Imperial College London, where she worked within the London BioFoundry on synthetic biology and automated diagnostics platforms. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals including Nature Communications and Integrative Biology, accumulating over 350 citations. Since founding Salient Bio in 2020, Dr. Ciechonska has led the development of advanced microbiome testing products spanning oral, gut, and vaginal health, working closely with clinicians to support precision care. She is an Innovate UK award recipient and a recognised international speaker in the microbiome diagnostics field.
